1980 – 1990: And we made it to the National League

During the eighties the C.D. Lealtad remains a historic club within the Asturian Federation but, to date, it had never played in the National Category, an ambition to which all humble Spanish clubs made up of amateur players aspired. Achieving this challenge was a possibility that was always present, but to achieve it we had to climb several steps that resisted us.

The First Regional was our category throughout the seasons 80/81, 81/82 and 82/83, descending to Second Regional at the end of the last to be another three years in this category, 83/84, 84/85 and 85/86, getting in the latter to return to First Regional as Champion to make the jump to Preferred Regional, a category in which we had never participated at the end of the decade -the 87/88 campaign being eleventh, 88/89 ninth and fourth 89 / 90-, a division that served us to achieve, now, the longed for and dreamed of promotion to a Third Division of national category where we would share competition with some of the most select Asturian clubs.
